#313: Try mixed media

We’re using the term “media” loosely here–just thought that clarification might be necessary so you aren’t confused when you see puzzle pieces stuck to a painted canvas.

When I was in elementary school and had to write an “about the author” page for a yearly make-your-own-book project, we were required to end the description (which often included such fascinating details as the ages of all of my siblings, the pets I had, and the address of my house–which is a really smart thing to tell children to publicize) with the phrase, “When I grow up, I want to be a…”

I always put some variation of, “an artist, a writer, or a teacher.”

Well, I’m definitely not a teacher.  I’m sort of a writer.  I’m clearly no artist.  Still, I like to pretend, even if only to placate the elementary-aged kid inside who kind of just assumed all of her dreams for the future would come true because why not?
